Mackenzie just keeps getting more and more of it today. And of course Gustav and Addi are off in their own world.

Grey lady's mouth looks so weird in that second panel. Is she supposed to be a salamander or something? But she's talking to birds, who have prejudices against reptiles, so she must be a bird, too. On a related note, I notice that there's a collar thing on her neck, as well as the two barn owls. Kayla too, or at least the newer Kayla. Gustav hasn't shown off his neck yet, but could that collar mean something bigger? Like a shape-shifting device? Some ID badge?A decoration? I'd give this a pass, but Jill the shapeshifter wore a collar when she got inducted into the guard, so it's somewhat unlikely to be just jewelry.

I really like the designs of the bird twins, hope we see more of them. Those eyes look so cute. But did their hair just change colour? Is that a lightning thing or are there species like that? It's probably a "Vivz loves glitter" thing.

So, Cat mom. The old Afkinz had a lot of weird stuff going for him, hence why people were quick to gang up on him (remember the hissing?). But all of Mackenzie's faults so far are her hair and cat mom. If that's all it takes to be treated the same as Afkinz, well they must really not like humans being adopted by animals. It's probably something that started in middle school, and kept going as a running joke by the unoriginal bullies of Pheonix High. Given Mackenzie just seems to retreat when provoked, and never seemed to enter social cliques, they never really saw a reason to stop.

Excellent indoor background, especially for Vivz! Even the eldritch wall from June got a nice makeover. Zill, Kayla, and...Kevin? Bird guy? All have have some good updates, not entirely different stuff like Zecheriah. Also, second appearance of Destiny, can't wait for her to get speaking lines.

My opinion? Gustav still seems creepy, and Mackenzie needs more love. All that needs to be said.

And anyway, things are gonna get worse for Mackenzie. Tom (the soul stealing succubus) makes his debut very soon, and he had a LOT of contact with Afkinz. I hope this doesn't hold now that Afkinz is a girl.

As I recall, humans in general are prejudiced against in Safe Haven.  It probably doesn't take much for them to get ostracized.  This crew doesn't have a very high opinion of Addison either.

I didn't notice the thing about the collars before, but not all shapeshifters wear them.  See Jackie, for instance.  It could just be a popular accessory for shifters, since while not all of them have hands in their natural forms, they do tend to have necks.

Also, lots of cameos on this page.  I guess one of the perks of having such a large cast is that you can do that sort of thing without it feeling too contrived.  It's nice seeing Destiny again, and... are she and Krisstina actually involved?  For some reason, I recall them just being close friends, but they're being pretty casual with each other here.
